Grocery attendant

  • Greets customers entering store and responds promptly to customer needs.
  • Responds positively to customer inquiries and assists customers with purchases, information and product selection.
  • Utilizes suggestive selling (add-on selling or upselling) by asking customers if they would like to include an additional purchase or recommending a product that might suit the customer or complement items being purchased.
  • Maintains a high level of product knowledge.
  • Maintains awareness of promotional and sale items and suggests them to customers.
  • Ensures customers receive outstanding service through the checkout lanes.
  • Operates cash register by passing price-coded items across electronic scanner to record price, enter PLU or UPC manually, compile printed list, and display cost of customer purchases, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.
  • Follows proper cash handling procedures for payments by cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.
  • Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Upholds state and local regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, lottery, and taxation.
  • Fulfills online orders efficiently, accurately, and with a sense of urgency.

Deli Attendant

  • Prepares ground beef, sausages, and deli items according to written deli procedures.
  • Stocks meat, cheese, and dairy cases adhering to deli department schematics ensuring tag and pricing accuracy.
  • Ensures cleanliness of deli case, storage area, equipment, and work area for safety; includes cleaning of shelves and products, keeping floors free of liquid spills or water, removing hazardous debris from floor and sweeping.
  • Responds positively to customer inquiries and assists customers with purchases, information and product selection while working the deli counter.
  • Maintains awareness of promotional and sale items and suggests them to customers.

  • Assists in training of new Grocery Attendants, utilizing learning checklists and training materials.
  • Stocks shelves; includes presentation of product, facing, filling, and organization of all product items as set by the store schematics as well as ensuring tag and pricing accuracy.
  • Ensures cleanliness of storefront, self-serve areas, storage area, and work area for safety; includes cleaning of shelves and products, keeping floors free of liquid spills or water, removing hazardous debris from floor and sweeping.
  • Responds positively to customer inquiries and assists customers with purchases, information and product selection.
